Competitions, downloads and everyfink!

My new website is progressing at a great rate of knots. There is now a section for registered users where they can download free desktop wallpapers and enter prize winning competitions! There's also a Newsletter (RebelArt) and the on-line payment gateway is finally integrated and live!

It's been a pretty hectic couple of weeks but so worth it. I've already had one competition entry and that bit only went live yesterday! I'm absolutely loving working on it and playing with new ideas for it. I'm really hoping lots of people will get involved with the Active Artists feature in the RebelArt newsletter - we shall see...

I guess I now have some time to do a little more painting and drawing. I've kinda missed that over the past couple of weeks. Although, my new book arrived yesterday - Ghost Hunter by Michelle Paver (the last in the Ancient Chronicles of Darkness series). I want to read it and yet I DON'T want to read it...kind of a bitter-sweet moment really.

Well, the rest of the day is calling...work to do before I get some evening ME time. Have a fantastic rest of the day everyone - looking forward to wandering through all your deviations later :)

According to the definition set down by various art affiliations, I am a beginner having only started to paint/draw in May 2008. I bought my first set of pastels in May 2008 after seeing some incredible wildlife art by a UK artist called Vic Bearcroft. I have always loved wolves and his work inspired me to have a go myself. I can't believe how much I enjoy spending my evenings creating pictures using soft pastels - if I didn't need to, I think I would stop working and paint all the time!

Since my first attempt, I have been building up quite a portfolio of work - some pieces have been entered into various contests and some have been winners. I have no idea where my new hobby/interest will take me but I'm sure it will be a fun ride.

I am looking for ways to sell prints of my work, which is one of the reasons I joined deviantART, and also to get to know other artists from all over the world. I want to learn as much as I can and enjoy the freedom I now have to express myself with art.
